Dr. Surya Prakash Singh, FRSC

Dr. Surya Prakash Singh is a Senior Principal Scientist in the Department of Polymers and Functional Materials at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad. He studied chemistry at the University of Allahabad, where he received his PhD in 2005, and then joined CSIR-IICT as a Research Associate.

He spent the next five years in Japan — as a postdoctoral fellow at Nagoya Institute of Technology (2006–2008), Assistant Professor at Osaka University (2008–2010), and researcher in the Photovoltaic Materials Unit of the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba (2010–2011). He returned to CSIR-IICT as a Scientist in 2011, and later worked as a BASE Fellow with Prof. Guillermo Bazan’s group at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

His group designs and synthesises functional π-conjugated molecules for photonic applications: sensitizers for dye-sensitized and indoor solar cells, acceptors for organic solar cells, hole-transport materials for perovskite solar cells, photoredox catalysts, and fluorescent probes. He has published over 250 papers, reviews and patents, edited two books, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
